It seems that PIG's can fly!
We welcomed Islanders to our 3rd Annual Group Show at Piers Island Gallery on Friday August 31st, 2019 for a celebration of the art and artists of Piers. Each year it seems one new artist joins PIG and we now have 12 artists in the "sty" although we may not have all their work all the time. Some are more prolific than others. The Group works will remain on exhibit until September 29th. PIG's hours will be rather random in September but always feel free to call for a viewing. We are delighted to be featuring the newest works from Lone Gardner, which this year include not only her vibrant acrylics on canvas, but two lovely watercolours with an East coast theme. Please contact the gallery for more information on any of these paintings, just waiting to grace the walls of your home. It's been a long cold winter, but I'm sweeping out the PIGSTY and will be ready to reopen PIG for the season on April 13th - from 2 to 4 pm. In celebration of spring, come share some pink bubbles and enjoy the work of your fellow Piers Island Artists. Hope to see you there!
After a delayed opening...PIG opened the doors again on Thursday December 6th showing off the beautiful new creations of her talented artists. Here are just a few images of pieces that are still available to fulfill wishes on your Christmas list. We'll have some new kelp weavings in from Grant Warrington next weekend...your last weekend before Christmas. :) The first year of the PIG ;) has flown by and since our opening on the August long weekend 2017, we've added two more Piers Island artists to the gallery. We'd like to thank those who have supported Island artists and ask you to join us for a toast on Friday August 31st, 2018. The gallery will open at 7 pm bringing you new work from many of our artists and our wish to thank you for your support for thinking local first and for bringing your guests, friends and relatives to visit PIG when they come to Piers.
Cheers! In our fast paced, instant gratification world...the art of oils is disappearing. The time, the detail, the layers of pigment on canvas are richly displayed in the works of Evey Gabille & Mary Jordan. We invite you to enjoy their art. Mary has many originals available for purchase with a sampling of giclees on canvas for her popular pieces. Evey has given us many beautiful pieces to show you, but she's not parting with most of them, however, giclees may be ordered.
Opening night is Friday June 29th from 7-9 pm The exhibition will continue to July 15th - the gallery will be open weekends 2-4 pm and available by appointment. Lone Gardner is a Piers Island artist who spends her life between Piers and Calgary, Alberta. Her subject matter of gardens, mountains and seas all share a unique and appealing palette of colours and a painterly feel. She paints with acrylic on canvas and all work in the show will be originals and available for purchase. We invite you to take in Lone's work and meet the artist on Friday May 18th between 7 and 9 pm. PIG will also be open Saturday and Sunday from 2-4 pm and please feel free to call for a private showing. PIG is excited to include Craig Benson as one of it's artists this spring. Craig's carvings in stone are nothing short of incredible. He occasionally has bronzes made of some of his suitable pieces. The seal head shown here is a one of a kind. The bronzes are cast locally and Craig does the fine after finishing and patina work on them. This seal has a most unusual patina finish, with no others like it. For those of us out on the water, having one of these creatures pop up and watch you, always brings a smile. :)
PIG will be open this Saturday from 2-4 pm. Pop in for a smile. We are pleased to be able to offer high quality giclee prints on canvas of Valerie Rolfe's newest works. Printing is done using premium inks on canvas, stretched onto either 1.5 inch boards, or .75 inch boards. The deeper boards give what's termed as a "gallery wrap" finish that is not usually framed and ready to hang. If you prefer to frame your art, the .75 inch depth would be your choice, but it will be ready to hang as well. If no choice is indicated in the order form below - the piece will be "gallery wrap" depth. All canvases are then finished with a varnish coat to protect them. These will be produced in various Limited Editions quantities of 30. Please email for Giclee Pricing You’re Mine On Canvas - 18 x 12 On Canvas - 24 x 16 On Canvas – Original size 36 x 24 On paper - 8 x 10 with mat Takaya Napping On Canvas - 16 x 8 On Canvas – original size 20 x 16 1.5 inch depth or .75 depth |
