Our upcoming show at PIG features the works of the very talented Valerie Rolfe. She's brought to the gallery a variety of pieces for this one woman show that is refreshing, captivating and offers insight into a few causes that are dear to Valerie's heart and are reflected in her work. We invite you to visit her website to learn more about the background stories on these wonderful paintings. In the meantime - feast your eyes on just a few of the original pieces that will be on exhibit in the show. Some work is not for sale, but available as a limited edition giclee by request. We invite you to join us for a Sneak Preview on Thursday March 29th - 7 - 8 pm and Saturday March 31st 2-4 pm & Sunday April 1st 2-4 pm as well as by appointment.

The decorations are down, the Christmas lights put away for the year and we all take a breath and some run to warmer climes for a break from the rain and wind. It's a time to unwind and artists start anew on ideas that have been smoldering. The first signs of spring (the snowdrops and frogs croaking) get us motivated and back at our easels, benches and kilns once again. And hence the heading...PIGSTY! The gallery has lost a bit of it's beautiful transformation while I work on some new glass pieces. I'll fly the flag when it's not a complete shambles and I'm out there working, but as always - feel free to call if you'd like to have a look around. One side of the gallery is still pristine! :) When I look at all the wonderful artwork by our talented Piers Island artists I can't help but hum...here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus! :) We do try and keep the artist pages updates with new work and prices, but if there's anything you see that strikes your fancy and you'd like more information, please contact us. We can arrange delivery before Christmas for you. PIG will be open by appointment Monday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. We hope to open Saturday December 23rd - but weather conditions may prevent this. A small hazard of island living with the holidays approaching.
Wishing you all the best for the holiday season and an art filled New Year! Oh, I know...you think...it's November still! But it always sneaks up on us and every year we seem amazed how suddenly it is the week before Christmas with so much to do! PIG is here to help you find awesome gifts for everyone on your list. We've asked our artists to bring us small works for December, but as soon as they are in - you'll see them on our Facebook page. :) A few ideas for you here...all under $150 from all of our artists. Not on Piers? Yes, we can ship! #foodies #yyjart #smallworks #piersisland
Start making that list and checking it twice, because wouldn't it be nice to give someone special on your list something created by a Piers Island artist. :)
With cards starting at $4 - with 2 Christmas themes coming from Valerie Rolfe, and well don't penguins and Antarctica give you that holiday spirit! Seashell Christmas decorations by Mary Jordan for only $10, new hammered/textured sterling silver earrings by Pauline Olesen starting at $35. We also have framed print works by Misha Smart & Garth Irvine for under $100, and handmade cutting/charcuterie & cheese boards by James Roggeveen. We'll have the PIG's own Roggeveen board loaded with goodies for your shopping enjoyment on Saturday November 11th 2 - 4 pm. Perhaps something to wet your whistle as well. ;) From kelp weavings & textile works to original oils & acrylics, we have something to offer every art lover. We also accept letters to send to your Santa with your wishes and we use express post, as in many cases - there is only one original piece! Also on hand will be the PIA desk and wall calendars for 2018, perfect stocking stuffers for the whole family. For those who hail from the prairies, there is something about the expanse of view and stillness that evokes such a calm. Lone has brought us two beautiful new paintings, "Towering Elevators" shown above and "View to the Peaks". Stop by this weekend when the flag is flying and have a look at these works and many other new works by Garth Irvine, Evey Gabille, Mary Jordan & Valerie Rolfe. Eileen Currie has brought us more of her wonderful stitched baskets to replenish the sold out supply. And we may have something new from Misha Smart for the weekend as well, as we are currently sold out of her prints too!
#original #art #PiersIsland Long weekends are a busy time for friends and families and if you bring yours to Piers, pop by PIG and have a look. New work is coming and going all the time, so there is likely something new for you to see.

Everyone loved the flying pig logo for the galley and thought it would look great on a T-shirt! Well, it does! :) We have a limited selection just arrived and we're happy to take orders for more. Budding artists can colour the T-shirt using permanent markers or fabric paints. And we'd love to have a photo for our Facebook page of your finished "PIG"casso! Check them out this coming weekend - September 23 & 24 between 1-3 pm or you can purchase online If the online store shows out of stock, please send us an email and we can add you to our next order. We would hope to have new stock (if needed) within 30 days.
