Our new show opening tomorrow has had a few "passing whim" visits and there are red dots in place already!
Tapestry of Textiles exemplifies the unique and vast opportunities that textiles provide to the artist. Christina van der Kamp presents a Core Samples series of Water, Wood and Soil - 15 gorgeous paintings in upcycled/recycled textiles. Miles Lowry brings us sculpture in cast cotton, then embellished with mineral pigments. We have several Torso pieces both in full size and miniature available. Also in cast cotton from the Amphora Series are several pieces done in collaboration with Georgia Angelopoulos. Each tell a story. David Ferguson brings us several of his works incorporating cast cotton, acrylic and mineral pigments. The texturing and vibrancy will amaze and entrance you. Eileen Currie's textile work is also another example of the versatility of textiles. Her bags and bowls are machine stitched and use both fabric and cotton clothesline. Unfortunately, we only have one of Eileen's market bags to show you at this time. The show opens tomorrow at 2 pm and we'll be open weekends from 2-4 pm and always by appointment, or drop by on a passing whim. We are following COVID safety rules and limiting to 3 in the gallery at a time and masks are a must. Make an appointment for your bubble and you can visit mask free. And no masks are required for Zoom or Facetime visits.

When I look at all the wonderful artwork by our talented Piers Island artists I can't help but hum...here comes Santa Claus, here comes Santa Claus! :) We do try and keep the artist pages updates with new work and prices, but if there's anything you see that strikes your fancy and you'd like more information, please contact us. We can arrange delivery before Christmas for you. PIG will be open by appointment Monday, Wednesday and Thursday this week. We hope to open Saturday December 23rd - but weather conditions may prevent this. A small hazard of island living with the holidays approaching.
Wishing you all the best for the holiday season and an art filled New Year! Oh, I know...you think...it's November still! But it always sneaks up on us and every year we seem amazed how suddenly it is the week before Christmas with so much to do! PIG is here to help you find awesome gifts for everyone on your list. We've asked our artists to bring us small works for December, but as soon as they are in - you'll see them on our Facebook page. :) A few ideas for you here...all under $150 from all of our artists. Not on Piers? Yes, we can ship! #foodies #yyjart #smallworks #piersisland
Start making that list and checking it twice, because wouldn't it be nice to give someone special on your list something created by a Piers Island artist. :)
With cards starting at $4 - with 2 Christmas themes coming from Valerie Rolfe, and well don't penguins and Antarctica give you that holiday spirit! Seashell Christmas decorations by Mary Jordan for only $10, new hammered/textured sterling silver earrings by Pauline Olesen starting at $35. We also have framed print works by Misha Smart & Garth Irvine for under $100, and handmade cutting/charcuterie & cheese boards by James Roggeveen. We'll have the PIG's own Roggeveen board loaded with goodies for your shopping enjoyment on Saturday November 11th 2 - 4 pm. Perhaps something to wet your whistle as well. ;) From kelp weavings & textile works to original oils & acrylics, we have something to offer every art lover. We also accept letters to send to your Santa with your wishes and we use express post, as in many cases - there is only one original piece! Also on hand will be the PIA desk and wall calendars for 2018, perfect stocking stuffers for the whole family. |
