When artists create, their heart and soul goes into their work. For upcoming Valentine's Day we asked our artists to think heart, romance and love for their show submissions. The show opens Saturday February 6th and we will be open weekends 2-4 pm until Feb 14th, or always by appointment. Appointments can be made for in person visits or Zoom/FaceTime or Skype. We will be following our COVID safety measures, so everyone must wear masks, only 3 people in the gallery at a time and of course our lovely hand sanitizer which has a lovely fresh citrus scent. Looking forward to seeing your eyes above the masks! #valentinesdaygifts #originalart #yyj #shoplocal

While COVID has restricted our ability to have lovely openings and showing en plein air in Coastal BC in the winter is not at all possible...but...then comes the innovation of Zoom.
This Friday December 11th at 7 pm PST will be our first foray into the Zoom Virtual Opening and our first attendees are from across North America! We're looking forward to seeing them and we can all be without masks. I do believe I might have a glass of bubbly in hand to mark the occasion. We have new pieces arriving every day, so there will be something new each time to see. Perhaps Friday nights will become Preview Evenings! :) We look forward to this trial run - fingers crossed technology cooperates and remember, we can Zoom you in anytime - just set up an appointment by email. Cheers, Pauline Olesen Piers Island Gallery #virtual #artopening #zoomart #yyj #originalart #piersisland The gallery is brimming with wonderful new work, so we'll be posting every few days to give you a glimpse of what we have to offer. Our PIG reopening had to be pushed back to November 21st, 2020 and we are looking forward to unveiling new works from our artists. The PIGSTY will once again be tidy and lovely, festooned with treasures for the special people on your list. COVID isolation time has spurred some artists on, but has also kept some from returning to Piers and still others from finding their muse. For all artists, it has been a difficult time, as art is created to be shared. We will be sharing with you safely and ask you to wear a mask. We remind our patrons that we are more than happy to offer private viewings for you, your family and friends whenever they might visit Piers. We hope to see you for the opening on November 21st 2-4 pm and over the next few weeks as you look for special things for special people. #originalart #shoplocal #carvings #paintings #sculpture #fusedglass #metalart #textileart #photography
We are busy preparing for the re-opening of PIG after PIGSTY mode for the last month. Very soon we will open with our annual Presents with Presence show on Saturday November 14th. We wanted to share with you the exciting news of a new artist to Piers. Established Victoria artist Miles Lowry has become a Piers Islander and therefore we were able to invite him to show his work in PIG. And we are very excited that he accepted. We thought we'd offer up a little sneak preview of his work for you and remind you to mark your calendars for November 14th for 2-4 pm. We will be social distancing and wearing masks because of the closer quarters. More details to follow, but for now - enjoy a peek at a few beautiful pieces of amazing work by Miles Lowry. Mary came to PIG as one of the original 9 artists four years ago. The launch was an exciting time and Mary has continued to bring wonderful works to PIG. Mary paints with oils, but also has some limited edition giclee on canvas available as well. As per the rules of PIG, one must own on Piers or be a direct relative who spends time on Piers. The Jordan's will be leaving Piers at the end of October, so while the weather holds...please join us this Saturday October 3rd 2-4 pm for an Exhibition and Sale featuring the work of Mary Jordan. We had so much fun for Christina van der Kamp's Open Air show, we have been continuing, weather permitting to feature a few artists in open air. PIG will continue in this manner of course when the skies are favorable and we are very happy for private openings for your bubbles, just call. We are so excited to be launching this textile artist Christina van der Kamp on August 22, 2020 at PIG.
So close to my heart is up-cycling, recycling and doing whatever we can to reduce our waste on this planet. Christina takes the notion of up-cycling to a whole new level with her gorgeous gift bags, worthy of everything from teddy bears to diamond rings, fine wines and great scotch! :) These fabrics have all been rescued by Christina and like a fairy godmother, transformed from pumpkins to golden carriages. We will have a lovely selection of gift bags by Christina for her launch on Saturday August 22nd at PIG at 2 pm. Priced from $5 to $25, we don't expect them to last long! #upcycled #textilewaste #giftbags COVID concerns certainly put a wrinkle in everything these days. We will however open for the Walkabout on August 1, 2020 at 9 am. This year however we are asking you to make an appointment just so we can distance easily. We'll hope for sunny weather and I'll move the sales table outside and we can have one bubble/family group at a time explore PIG and the Sculpture Garden. We'll book in 30 minute segments to allow plenty of time. Please use our Reservation form below and we will confirm by email for your preferred time. Visual art, is of course visual and the space in PIG is not conducive to self distancing unfortunately. We are developing an outdoor sculpture garden and window displays for your viewing pleasure from the spacious outdoors.
COVID-19 has affected all plans for workshops over spring break and our Spring Grand Re-opening Show. We will work hard to bring you feature artist window displays in the next few weeks. It should make viewing and distancing very easy. The Sculpture Garden will be a work in progress as there is much to do to in battling back vines and thorns. Any purchases would be completed via online invoicing. You pay by credit card and when payment is confirmed the package is wrapped and delivered to your Piers Island property. You can then store the package for 4 days before the big reveal. Excess packaging can be picked up if requested. Any garden sculpture pieces could be immediately displayed. No need for indoor quarantine. Changes to these procedures would be made if we contracted the COVID-19 virus. We'll announce the launch as soon as we're ready, but in the meantime - we best get back to bush whacking! Stay safe and wash your hands. #selfdistancingart #sculpturegarden #outdoorart #windowdisplays |
