Miles Lowry created this beautiful piece when Ukraine was first invaded by Russia. His hope is to raise funds for causes providing relief to Ukrainians suffering as a result of this war. The prints are offered unframed at $100 and each is numbered, although the edition is not limited. The first printing of 50 have sold out! Another printing is in the works and will soon be available.
We provide 2 links for you here to purchase your own print. Use the first link if you would like the print delivered to PIG for pick up. Use the second link if you will require delivery or will be picking up in Victoria, BC. #yyjartforukraine #mileslowry

During the first fall of the pandemic we opened Le Petite PIG, a roadside free/exchange gallery in hopes of inspiring artists young and old to create and give in exchange for a treasure from another. It flourishes, then languishes but it's always interesting and is very much an attraction for the kids to check out anything new. Recently a pink butterfly was placed in Le Petite and then it was taken and reappeared. The story below was sent to Piers Island Gallery. You can follow her adventure here. She hopes to be taken on other adventures and that you will photograph and share her adventures with Pauline. They will then add them to this blog post. Feel free to add a little art of your own to her wings before you put her back for another adventure. Thanks for sharing. #pinkytuscadero #lepetitepig #youngartistyyj
Our first exhibition in 2022 is one of HeART & Soul for you. We open Sunday February 6th at 2 pm and will be open weekends from 2-4 pm for the month of February. We invite you to join us to take in some of the new work from our artists. We offer beautiful art to touch your soul.
We look forward to seeing your faces once again. :) Covid protocols in place, so please remember your masks. Private viewings available by appointment for in person or Facetime. :) #yyjart #valentinesday It's getting close to our last days for shopping/hunting for those special things. Here's an updated look of what we have available in PIG. Feel free to call, text, circle and send any wishes you have - even if you want us to play Santa and accept your Christmas letter. We'll pass along the information to the right place. :) Happy Holidays everyone! I had really hoped we would open the show with no masks this year, but alas! My outside heater purchase of last winter is doing yeoman duty once again this year. The show opened on November 13th and will be open weekends 2-4 pm or by appointment until December 19th. We welcome Zoom or Facetime tours - there have been a few pieces disappear through that route already. New work is coming in all the time so check with us often. Here are just a few from our wonderful group of artists. Please feel free to share with your friends and share the work of our artists with them.
#piersartists #originalart #originalgifts #yyjart #piersislandgallery When we began this little co-operative style gallery idea 5 years ago, there were 9 artists and we thought that was pretty incredible. Now we are over 20 artists and we have authors and provide web access to links for our performing artists as well. It was a vision that has exceeded my expectations and each time I set up a new show, I am filled with pride for these talented artists that choose to have Piers as a special part of their life. Due to changing COVID rules - we are Opening Sept 4th 2-4 'ish pm so we can show out of doors. Masks will be required inside PIG. We hope to see you out on Opening Night - the fully vaccinated need not wear masks. We hope the weather cooperates so that we may have some en plein air exhibitions as well. The show will run for the month of September, but every one knows - opening night offers first picks!

We’re excited to feature a new exhibition featuring 3 talented artists who have a lovely friendship, all painting together one day a week (when possible). Each brings a unique style and their sharing of techniques has allowed them all to blossom and grow.
Lynn Pritchett brings us her Series #1 of 4 acrylic on canvas paintings, beautiful together, but each stands alone with a calming presence. Lynn at this time is a guest artist to PIG, but does live on Piers Island. Ginny Macoun has been prolific with her watercolours, with subject matter of both floral, landscape and our local birdlife. Charl Young's newest works in acrylic on canvas are full of energy and life, no doubt inspired by her developing garden...something else that these 3 share - a love of gardens and gardening. We open the show today from 2-4 pm and it will continue to July 3rd. Please email if you would like to book a Zoom visit to our lovely little gallery. Opening this weekend is a solo exhibit with works from Valerie Rolfe. We will have a wonderful selection of originals she is now ready to part with and a great selection of giclee prints on both paper and canvas. We'd love to say Hello and we're sure you'll love to see this lovely new work from Valerie available in giclee on canvas, titled - Hello.
Valerie's show runs from May 15th to June 6th and we invite you to visit us on weekends from 2-4 pm or by appointment for a private viewing for you or your bubble and of course, Zoom, Facetime and Skype viewing are always available as well. Masks are still a MUST at PIG with hand sanitizer on your way in. #yyjart #valerierolfe #westcoast #orcas Our new show opening tomorrow has had a few "passing whim" visits and there are red dots in place already!
Tapestry of Textiles exemplifies the unique and vast opportunities that textiles provide to the artist. Christina van der Kamp presents a Core Samples series of Water, Wood and Soil - 15 gorgeous paintings in upcycled/recycled textiles. Miles Lowry brings us sculpture in cast cotton, then embellished with mineral pigments. We have several Torso pieces both in full size and miniature available. Also in cast cotton from the Amphora Series are several pieces done in collaboration with Georgia Angelopoulos. Each tell a story. David Ferguson brings us several of his works incorporating cast cotton, acrylic and mineral pigments. The texturing and vibrancy will amaze and entrance you. Eileen Currie's textile work is also another example of the versatility of textiles. Her bags and bowls are machine stitched and use both fabric and cotton clothesline. Unfortunately, we only have one of Eileen's market bags to show you at this time. The show opens tomorrow at 2 pm and we'll be open weekends from 2-4 pm and always by appointment, or drop by on a passing whim. We are following COVID safety rules and limiting to 3 in the gallery at a time and masks are a must. Make an appointment for your bubble and you can visit mask free. And no masks are required for Zoom or Facetime visits. |
