James RoggeveenJames is a grandson to a longtime original Piers Island family. He was exposed to woodworking by his grandfather. James brings us beautiful charcuterie boards made from various combinations of maple, cedar, purple heart, cherry, mahogany and walnut. We also have a wonderful selection of square and rectangular bowls perfect for collections of things, breads and fruit, or whatever your heart desires. Valerie RolfeWe have a wonderful selection of Val’s work in PIG at the moment. From her lovely seasonal cards along with quite a few original acrylics. We hope you enjoy the slideshow of them all. Val works mostly in acrylic, but she surprises us every once in a while with a watercolour. Normally everything is framed for a show, but frames seem to be on the list of hard to get items in certain sizes, so we have 2 unframed this time. Elena Richardson - Amphora CeramicsIt seems only fair to go alphabetically so our first featured artist this month is Elena Richardson of Amphora Ceramics. Elena is not only a talented potter, but a musician as well. Her Piers Island connection is granddaughter to one of the original owners on Piers. The family still enjoys the island often, and as such, we are able to feature Elena’s work in PIG. Our photo displays currently available work – mugs, vases, hanging planters all range in price from $30 to $50. Please contact us for more information on any of the pieces. Grant Warrington - Kelp WeaverGrant harvests dried kelp from various beaches on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. The kelp is rehydrated to the point of flexibility and then dried again, then more woven in, at various stages. He uses primarily bull kelp and brown laminaria. Our photo displays currently available work – the smaller heart at $75, ranging up to $525 for the large bull kelp & laminaria basket which is 8 inches tall with a 13 inch diameter.
